Hot in Holland

Image
Yes, it's hot I the Netherlands. Too hot for most of us. Streets are empty, most people stay inside, hiding for too much sun. A few days ago it was also sunny but not that hot, so some Hot in the City shots, this time from s'Hertogenbosch to stay in the summer mood . . .  and we found a "wise" advice . . .

Pilgrim procession in honor of the Virgin Mary in Ommel

Every year there is a pilgrim procession in honour of the Virgin Mary in Ommel. This year it was a sunny day so I thought let's go and have a look . . . .

Rock and Roll in Helmond

Image
By the time I'm writing this I'm following PinkPop on the T.V..  In the first years I was one of the many who wanted to be there and were there. This year it's the 50th birthday of that music festival. So now as years gone by, making money, moving to other places, getting older, less time,  I found my place for the T.V. , like a couch potato (to be more precise it's not a telly, but my IMac).  But this afternoon I was in the city of Helmond, business as usual, when I thought I hear some music.  So when time was right I walked up to the sounds.  It's not PinkPop, maybe it's only Rock & Roll, but I like it . . .

The giant procession in Maastricht.

Being in Maastricht I had the luck to walk in to the Giant procession.  It is the hottest day of 2019 until now. The sun burns, luckily there is a lot to drink in Maastricht. And they even serve a tasteful lunch. So all in all a great day . . . . . . Not everyone wants her picture taken . . .  A handshake with a giant   the fun of frightening the photographer . . .

Bird photography with a 50mm!

Image
I've taken my first steps in bird photography a little while ago. Really would like to have a tele to take bird pictures and other animals of course too. But I would only use it for animal shooting and the costs will be, for now, too much to justify the amount of money. I know that I really like to take pictures of our daily life and that a 50 mm is already a long lens for me and probably one of my most used. So when I saw this birdy I had the 50mm on my camera and the 24 in my bag. Quickly took a shot and then it flies away . . . My first bird shot in the wild with a 50mm! But that's not all. This one I took in Maastricht, a beautiful city in the south of the Netherlands. And I took it with a wide angle . . . .  One more Yes, I know, a little bit of cuddling . . . and of course, a doggy!
