Beggars

Image
The weather is getting better, more sun and an even more nice temperature. With the sun also the beggars seem to come. I think it's not a nice view to see someone begging and seeing someone sleeping on the street is, for me, a shame of our society. Yes, I take sometimes pictures of them. Why? Don't know exactly, but they are a part of the street life. Some don't want their photo taken, some don't care, some want money. My impression is that some of them might have mental problems, some are addicted and some others made me feel like they act like beggars, just for the money. Beggar as a profession?

Spain, after the rain . . . .

Image
It seems the bad weather is over. Very bad weather, water in the house, helping each other with plastic and tape. Sometimes no electricity, yes bad weather, but now the sun shines, drying the mud that came down from the mountains, and we go to the city for some nice tapas and wine. After all the sun shines so we need to drink, we worked hard, so we need to eat . . . So it's umbrella dry time again . . .

The celebration of San Anton (colour)

Image
There is another post on this blog about the celebration of San Anton with black and white photo's. Although I still prefer black and white for this kind of photo's, I thought why not give it a try in colour? So, here they are . . .  Hope you like it.

Bad weather in Spain

Image
Not only rain, lots of rain, way too much rain, but also hail and quite a lot of hail. Nothing special for the Netherlands but we are now in southern Spain. At least two more days this weather and then sun again. We already miss that. And the house is not completely watertight. The strong wind, the heavy showers and hail is just a bit too much. With plastic we try to keep things as dry as possible. Internet falls out more than it is on. And when it works it slow. The weather is very extreme, especially for this part. We try to help each other. Share plastic garbage bags to prevent leaks or to keep the bed dry. Every now and then it is dry, and we drink tea or coffee. Sometimes we find new leaks. We will continue for a while. And as promised by the weather channel, Sunday the weather will be sunny and dry. But that takes another two and a half days. . .

The celebration of San Anton

Image
Every year they celebrate San Anton in this part of Alhaurin el Grande. People take animals, mostly dogs, to bless them by the priest. First there is a Holy Mass, but it's a small church so many of the owners wait outside together with their animal.  After the Holy Mass the blessing of the animals take part. When all the animals are blessed there is a procession, through the narrow streets, with the Statue of San Anton carried by women. And of course, there is free paella for every volunteer who made this all possible . . . . So no photo of that as we didn't want to disturb them . . .

(W)Here we live part 3 ~ In the dust.

Image
Dust, dust, dust. That's a problem here. Not a big one, you have a broom to sweep your house but what do you do with your car? If you like a shining car, you're in trouble. But luckily there is this . . . and your problem is gone . . . . Sony A7R2 with Viltrox 85mm 1.8

Three Kingsday (2) The Parade

Image
The next day, after the cake eating, is the Parade! And yes, with three real camels!  and people from fairy tails ( not so real) lots of candy and she doesn't care at all

Three Kingsday

Image
The day before Three Kingsday there is free cake for everyone. The cake is many meters long.  So that's a good reason to take a look. There is music and the statue of Jesus as a new born is in the front of the church. This is the only day in the year that this little statue is removed from the big statue it's a part of. And of course you want a picture of your child with that statue.  The face painting was intended for the young ones, but it's also fun to paint that handsome boy . . . and free cake is something everyone likes.

(W)Here we live now part 1

In this environment we're living now and we like it . . . . It's not always like this, Mostly the weather is much better. But that's for another time. All shots taken with the Sony A7R2 and the Samyang 24mm 2.8

Chinese, but not the food . . .

Image
We are living now in the south of Spain. Europe, sure, Europe, but different in many, mostly, small habits. One of them, the Chinese. If we go to the Chinese in the Netherlands, we go for dinner. Over here you go to the Chinese for everything except for dinner.  They have shops here were they sell everything except Chinese food. You find here fishing rods, paint, tools, glasses, pens, deodorant, brooms, clothes for your dog, yes, clothes for dogs and many, many more. If you don't need anything it might be a pleasure for the eye just to look around. You might come out with things you even didn't know you need . . . But the prices are not negotiable
