The end of the game . . .

Image
Many a football match on the street ended without glory because the ball went over the wall at the neighbor. Here the game was stopped because the ball got stuck in the palm. More exotic, yes, but just as sad. . . .

Caminito del Rey or the end of my shoes.

They have been everywhere were I have been. Asia, South America Europe. They've been neglected for a while and now they will lead me through El Caminito del Rey. Anyway that was the plan. And so far, most things we planned, well you know if you've been here before, just didn't mostly work out as planned. I have no recent pictures of my shoes from before walking el Caminito. But after about one fourth of the walking distance they look like this. Luckily they stayed that way till home, our Spanish home, of course. But believe me my feet were feeling not in a super state. But who cares and after a good rest  and a few of these in the warm sun I was back in good shape again. El Caminito del Rey? Nice, but take good shoes, you are not allowed to walk there on slippers but I would like to have had a pair of them with me. By the way, you are also not allowed to use a walking stick, tripod and it's wise to get your tickets from the internet as by the time we were t

Waiting for a date to eat

Image
They told us that if we let it dry this would become eatable and tasteful dates The date is a fruit that occurs frequently in the Sunna. For example, in the Hadith according to Al-Bukhâri it is said: "The person who starts the day with seven 'adjwa dates, that day will not suffer from poison nor sihr (black magic)." (Volume 7, Book 65, Number 356) [5]. Eating 'adjwa dates regularly would restore and cleanse the liver. One could therefore heal after taking a small amount of poison. that's fine but I just love them!

Spain means fish . . .

Image
There is wonderful and tasteful meat in Spain. Most of us know the famous hams, but there is also a lot of fish. Not that strange as you see how long the coasts of Spain are. Good restaurants buy their fish fresh every day on the market.  Also in Malaga were all these shots were taken.

Spain is . . . doggies!!!

Spain is doggies! You see many dogs here. There are, of course, the big barking ones to keep the house and belongings safe for strangers, although I must admit we feel really safe here.  Then there are the little one's to walk with.  I don't think they have any use, like the big ones, as been taking care of by their owners. You don't have to be rich to own a doggy.   There were times when dogs helped us to find the trail . . . but that must be long ago.

Moving again!

Image
Yes. We’re on the move again.  No, not thousands of kilometres as last time, but about 500 meters. Not much changes in environment but what y difference in house. This one is bigger, newer and we have our own pool. Do we need it? No if you ask me but if you ask my better half you would understand why we’re here. We will stay here, not necessarily in this house, until we go back to the Netherlands. But first we would like to see and celebrate the Carnival and Semana Santa. But let us not make to much plans. There’s still lot to see here and we might come back this year.  Oh no, again making plans! So for now is getting ready for the moving and in the meantime trying to cure my back. Yes, the bad weather wasn’t ideal for my back. I need a walking stick, but I’m walking again! Like a classic Englishman with, of course a matching car and a hat. Yes, the hat is mine, the car, euh, working on it. Only joking about the car, for now we still like our BMW. Not typical British bu

Centenario 1920-2020 Alhaurin el Grande, 1 de febrero de 2020. Yes, they sure like to celebrate over here. Now it's something with fast walking solders.  The center is populated by soldiers, "armed" with drums and trumpets. Women and soldiers, don't know exactly why but they seem too fit together in a certain way. Maybe it's the uniform, the music, who knows. But as it turns out, some soldiers are women. So we're all in it together.
