COVID-19 in old photos

Image
Update 1: As of Friday, sorry they changed that in the upcoming Saturday and the time is now from 21:00 till  4:30 We have a curfew in the Netherlands. It had actually been clear for some time, but the politicians first had to meet extra long about it and it was on TV.  There will be elections soon, but that of course has (nothing) to do with it.  On the radio, on TV, in the shops, everywhere you see things that remind you of the fact that a virus is spreading. Even in old photos taken in BC time (before corona) it is visible. Stay healthy and optimistic, the world needs it !

Colouring with white ?

On the radio all day: "The Netherlands turns white", but still no snow. Should have known, colouring with white is of course not possible, not even in the Netherlands. But then, when it is already dark, it still turns white. Becoming whiter and yet darker isn't that just like colouring with white? It’s a confusing world although Confucius had nothing to do with it, I suppose.  Luckily my car is black, black at daytime and black at night, and even the, "Netherlands turns white", snow didn’t changed that. Think it's time for a warm drink near the fire place . . . . To bring the colours back to life. Stay healthy and optimistic, the world needs it . . . .

The cormorants are back.

I’m not really a fanatic bird watcher but these birds have something special. Don’t ask me what, don’t know if I want to know, but I like them. So on the first COVID-19 walk of this year I suddenly noticed the birds. Maybe they were there all the time and I just didn’t pay attention, or they weren’t there all that time.  But who cares, they’re back making my day a bit brighter.  But then it started raining and it keeps raining for days and some fog too.  But luckily and suddenly a bit of sun. So instead of my Sony A7R2 with the Viltrox 85mm, I grab my old, rusty but still trusty,  X-Pro1 with my only and therefore biggest tele, the 50-250mm and, yes, or better, no cormorants. All gone. Maybe left because of the weather. Can’t blame them. But when going home they were back.  So I took some shots, back home and just got in before the raining starts again. And again another COVID lock down day killed.  Stay healthy and optimistic, the world needs it.

Flies and horses or old and new in the Netherlands

some things seem to belong together. Like fireworks and New Year.  Not this year if it is up to the government. To prevent corona expansion and more pressure on the hard working people in the hospitals.  But we are not a listening people, says the same government. I'm curious what will happen.   Yes, this happend, firework! Luckily not as much wounded people as last year.  The enforcers were concerned, because for many, fireworks are part of New Year's Eve, just like oliebollen and they are allowed.   The syringes with the medicine that should protect us against the virus have been in the freezers for several days. But we only vaccinate from 8 January, as the very last country in Europe. Not everyone is happy with that, but according to the government this is the best. Will belong together in the Netherlands, too talk a lot and become indecisive when action is required. Like flies and horses, not pretty but seemingly inseparable. . . So, less by fireworks wounded people  We s
