English and Dutch

Image
Something new: Blog now in English and Dutch. So the first part is in English as usual and the second part is in Dutch. This is a tryout so not sure if it’s staying that way. We live in a completely different environment now. Just look at the view through our window. Once upon a time, there were only rice paddies here, now they're disappearing for houses. Let's hope there's still plenty of greenery left. Not just because it looks beautiful, but certainly also to allow rainwater to be absorbed seamlessly by the soil. The rainy season is changing, people here say. It rains more often outside the rainy season now, and it's less wet during the rainy season. When it does rain, the extreme downpours are longer and more intense. For now, we're making do with an umbrella.   We wonen nu in een heel andere omgeving. Kijk alleen maar eens naar het uitzicht door ons raam. Ooit lagen hier alleen maar rijstvelden, nu verdwijnen die voor huizen, laten we hopen dat er nog heel wat ...

Changing places.

We left our home in the Low Countries on our way to a sunny country. This time it is not the south of Europe we are going to but much farther away. As you might think while looking at the photo we're going by air. While waiting before boarding I took this photo with my phone. And as I'm writing this we are already there. Will stay there for a month, then a week or so, in Singapore, then back for a month and then back to the Low Countries. Anyway that's the plan, things might change on the way. Stay happy, healthy and optimistic. The world still needs it!

What's happening?

A bag, some keys. Looks like they were put there to take when leaving. Leaving, why, where too, oh is it that time of the year again? More to come in a few days Stay happy, healthy and a bit curious.  That's the best way to survive!

No words

Image
sometimes it's not easy to find words. Maybe emotions, memories or the actuel situation are simply to complex, to much at the time.  That's when you find no words.  Luckely that's not the matter right now with me.  But still no words. Feeling not that good, corona strikes again but it's no longer a strong virus. Although still strong enough to make you feel sick and tired.  No energy to find not only the right words but no words at all.  So to make it up to the loyal or not loyal at all readers some photos. Because that's what it is all about, I think. Yes, they're all pictures of animals, they don't talk, maybe with the parrot as an exception . . . Stay happy and healthy and optimistic, maybe even speechless . . .

Sunlight in the kitchen

Tour de France Update

Image
Yesterday I was watching the Tour de France on TV. One of the toughest stages, perhaps even the toughest. A lonely rider was in the lead for the last 30 kilometers, with all the big names at a distance. It was obvious he would be caught.  Besides, it was his first Tour. He came to learn the Tour, had even finished second in an earlier stage, and now this. The brave young rider, as usual, would be caught just before the finish. That's how the big guys do it. This time too? No, the young man won. His name is Tymen Arensman.  I saw the interviews afterward and thought, "I know him."  I saw him sitting on a sidewalk with his parents, waiting for the start of the Tour of Portugal.  The press wasn't very interested in him yet. He was still at his start.  A few months later, he'd be on many channels.  Life is full of surprises. Update: On Friday 25 juli Tymen Arensman did win again in the mountains. By just two seconds he defeated Jonas Vingegaard en Tadej Pogacar...

Conversations during a heat wave.

Conversations during a heat wave. Right no, in middle Europe we have a heat wave.  So if this post is a bit different, blame the heat. Anyway that's what I do. Sometimes you don't know. Don't know what? Don't know It's hot. Yes, it's hot. Too hot? Too hot, for what? For you. No and for you? What? Too hot. No, not for me. But it's hot
